Parrot Feather For Your Water Garden - Monmouth County New Jersey (NJ)
One of our favorites !
The soft, feathery foliage of Parrots Feather flows with ease over the water and onto rocky edge of a pond, doing a great job at bringing rock and water together, thereby making this an ideal marginal plant for Monmouth County New Jersey (NJ) water gardens.
The leaves grow in whorls around the stem which can be as much as 3 inches in diameter and 6 inches tall with a hearty, running growth. In fact, Parrots Feather is so easy to grow that it can be found on prohibited aquatic plants lists in some states.
When it starts to look leggy, just snip the new growth off the tired plant and either poke it into the soil of another aquatic plant or pot them in a new pot, creating a whole new plant.
Look to Parrots Feather to float beautifully in your pond, blending with other plants, or softening the rocky edge. It’s also a great plant for container water gardens.
Parrots Feather is hardy in zones 6 to 10. Water depth should be moist to 3" deep.
